Your Silver Passport — Keep Its Identity and History Together
A Silver Passport is a private object dossier prepared on request by MINERVE. It brings the available identification, photographs, condition notes, provenance documents and an agreed dated valuation into one record. It is useful when you keep, inherit, insure or later sell a silver object or a collection.
What your dossier can contain
- Object reference, description, dimensions, gross weight and component notes.
- Overall photographs and clear images of the marks and identifying details.
- Maker or attribution, origin, likely date and silver standard, with supporting references.
- Condition, repairs, inscriptions, missing parts and the limits of examination.
- Copies or references to provenance documents, separating verified history from reported history.
- A valuation date, currency and purpose, where a valuation has been commissioned.
From your photographs to a written record
Send photographs and describe the object or collection and the intended use of the dossier. MINERVE confirms what research and examination are needed, the deliverable, fees and timetable before you commission the work. If an object must be examined in Geneva, arrangements are agreed in advance.
The dossier is prepared after the agreed work. A Silver Passport records the evidence available; it is not a government document, an export permit or proof of legal title.
Keep the record current
Retain original invoices and supporting documents alongside the dossier. Add dated records of later repairs, exhibitions, publications or transfers. An old valuation should be reviewed for its intended use rather than treated as a permanent market price.
Discuss selling a documented object · Information to request when buyingIs the Silver Passport free?
The first photographic discussion is free. Preparation of a researched dossier or formal valuation is a separate service, with scope and fees quoted in advance.
Does it guarantee authenticity or value?
It records the agreed scope, findings and supporting evidence, including uncertainties. Its conclusions depend on the examination performed. A dated value is not a guaranteed future sale price.
Can it cover a whole service or collection?
Yes, the proposed scope can include a piece-by-piece inventory with consistent references and photographs. The format and work required are agreed before preparation.
Will the dossier be public?
It is intended as a private record supplied to the commissioning client. Any sharing or publication of client documents is agreed separately.
